How to find your passion in life

Find-your-passion

There usually comes a point in every individual’s life where    they   have to decide what they want to do, what they want to be and draw out a life plan that suits them best. But a major hurdle here is knowing what to do and how to go about with it.

Finding out what you love is more difficult than it seems. It has to be something that becomes your whole reason for existence. The reason why you wake up in the morning, the reason why you do the things you do; especially if it is regarding your career.

Here are some things you can try to figure out what can become your passion in life:

  1. Find out what motivates you.

Agreed that there are many things that may act as a motivator for your decisions, but what is of utmost importance here is keeping in mind that the thing that motivates you, should not become your deterrent. Something that motivates you should be special only to you and hold special meaning. It should be something that makes you want to try harder no matter how many times you fail.

  1. Ask questions to yourself.

Do not be afraid to ask more meaningful and existential questions to yourself. Ask yourself if doing something is actually what you want to do and if you would be able to do that for the rest of your life without any hesitation. Once you are able to answer this, you will be able to not only find out your strengths, but also the weakness which can be worked upon to overcome. You know yourself best and only you will be able to answer them correctly.

  1. Check for similar patterns and themes in your answers.

When you find answers to your questions, check if there are any similarities that may point you towards what you want and what makes you truly happy. For e.g., if you enjoyed yourself doing something, and that activity is a part of your answer, try to remember how satisfied you were when you participated in the activity.

  1. Give it your best shot.

Once you find out what you feel satisfied doing, try doing it on a more regular basis. Try for internships in that particular field to better research the job. Internships will help you realize if you actually are cut out for that job or not. It will help deliver a better perspective of what you plan to do is truly your calling or if it is more of a hobby.

  1. Improve your skills.

Once you know what you want to do, get proper certifications and training in it. The more you learn about it, the better you get. Read as much as you can on it. Try to learn everything there is to it.

  1. Never give up.

You tried to do what you thought was best for you, but it didn’t turn out the way you thought it would? So what? Mike Ditka, the former American Football player, once said that, ‘You never really lose until you quit trying.’ So don’t give up just yet. If the plan didn’t work out, formulate a plan B and give it all you have. You might just start on the best journey of your life and learn more about yourself in the process.

It seems like it requires a lot of work and effort, but if this brings you closer to who you truly are, then a little hard work doesn’t seem like a pain, does it? Just be who you are and do what you love to do and that’s half the battle already won.

Is Career in a BPO the right choice?

Is Career in a BPO the right choice? That is a question most of us ask since we are very hesitant to join BPOs at the start of our careers. The reason being that people are mistaken as they think it involves only making calls and the thought of calling people whole day can be unnerving. However, it has various processes other than call based processes like non voice, back office, etc. and one can get great job opportunities here. The BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) Industry is one of the fastest developing industries in the world and India has successfully caught up with it. These days MNC’s are constantly depending on resources from India and want them as a driving workforce in their organizations. Most people see jobs in a BPO as a short-term option mostly to get some quick money in their pockets before they get into a real career. But you can also make working here as a permanent career option since there are a number of advantages as compared to working in other companies (Non-BPO’s), as mentioned below :-

Age:  There is no age limit as such to work here as they give opportunities for all. You can start as young as 18 years and can work up to retirement age, so you have a set career for your life. Other companies however, are pretty biased when hiring people for their organizations. Some of them are very blunt in mentioning the age limit for their job positions and may hesitate to hire those individuals who are above the age of 40.

Qualification: You don’t necessarily need to be a graduate to work here since there are jobs for even those with mere qualifications of SSC (Secondary School Certificate) or HSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate). So those who are unable to complete their education due to various reasons and want a job can easily get it.  While other companies may require a person to be a graduate before they can work for them. Also, one doesn’t need technical skills to work here as it is mostly dependant on non technical skills like voice while you may require certain technical skills to work in other companies.

Good Compensation:  When you work here you can get paid a very good salary as compared to the other companies. The salary in other companies varies depending on various factors like industry, technical knowledge, etc. However, over her you are not only provided a good salary but you can also get good incentives if you perform well.  The salary may vary though, depending on various factors like how qualified an individual is, the process complexity or the timing of the shift. A person who joins as a fresher can get paid anything between Rs 7,000 up to Rs 20,000 per month depending on qualification as in whether he/she is a graduate or not. While an individual with experience like managers will get paid up to Rs  50,000 or more per month.

Growth and Experience: There is a great opportunity for one to learn while they work here as they have on the job training. You can also grow at a faster pace as compared to other companies. The one who works hard are recognized and promoted at a quick pace and can also get added incentives on a monthly basis. You get the experience of working as a team in order to meet daily goals and also get to handle customers from all over the world. You can get acquainted with various industries like Banking, Insurance, Telecom, Airlines, etc., since there are jobs available for these processes.

Language: Initially only those people who are good at English used to get hired here. However, these days’ even people who speak in local languages like Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, etc., can get hired here. So there is an opportunity for you to work here no matter what language you speak. While other companies mostly only hire those who are proficient in the English language which makes it difficult for those who are not so good in communicating in English.

Now that you have learnt about the BPO Industry and their benefits over other companies (Non BPO’s), I’m sure you will not hesitate before making BPO as your career choice.
